So if you’re just starting your business, do you sometimes feel like you’re the new kid on the block and a total newbie? In today’s episode of Career Bliss Thursday, I will be talking to you about the five things you need to do right now to establish your credibility, so stay tuned.

Alright, so the five things you need to do to establish credibility right now.

Practice makes perfect

First, make sure that you are doing everything you can to be the best at what you do so really hone in on your craft.

Make sure that you are educating yourself, you’re practicing, you’re doing anything you need to do to really be the best and have the best skills at whatever it is that you do, whether the best photography, event planning, social media marketing. Whatever it is that your craft is, make sure that you are really diving in, studying and making your business the best it can be, your skill is the best it can be. That’s number one.

Be consistent with your views

Number 2: I want you to have a very clear perspective and I want you to be open about discussing that perspective and that could be that it comes from your core values, whatever your core values are, make sure that that’s coming across in your business and your marketing and your blog posts.

Whatever it is you’re doing, whenever you’re talking to somebody, make sure that you have a very consistent and clear perspective. Don’t do the “one day I believe in this and then the next day you believe in that and then the next day you see me you’re back to the first one” because that will create confusion and it will quickly create doubt and you will lose trust on people who are trying to connect with you.

That’s number two: Make sure that you have a very clear perspective.

Be yourself

Number 3 is: be yourself.

Find your own voice, be comfortable with how you’re running your business. There’s nothing that is the biggest, the fastest way to lose trust is just trying to imitate other people in the business or copycatting or when somebody is not being truthful and really being yourself, it just comes across very very fast so be yourself.

It’s okay to bring your personality into your business. That’s the way that you’re going to really connect with that person who really needs to be served by you. That’s number three.

Celebrate your successes

Number 4 is: to make it a constant practice to really look at your successes as well as your failures.

It’s really empowering to at the end of the week or at the beginning of the week or once a month or once a day or whatever it is for you, whatever it takes for you to start looking at all the things that you’ve done that are like “man that was awesome” and “I really nailed that.” Really take that in and celebrate it.

Celebrate that success!

It’s also as equally important to take a look at the things that you’ve done that haven’t worked.

It’s okay to fail!

That only means that you’re trying to do something different. Make sure that you also put together those things that you notice you’ve been working on that just haven’t worked, learn from them and communicate it. It’s okay for people to know that you are a human being behind the brand. That’s number four.

Establish a community

Number 5 is: to join other people in your network, a network of mentors for professionals in your field that you can start collaborating with.

Maybe you can guest post on their blogs or you can do a joint venture or something like that. That will really, really, really bring a lot of credibility to your business because you’re now associating yourself with other people who have been doing this and are doing it successfully and you will not only be learning from them, but you will be also providing your special sauce, your secret sauce, your uniqueness to that partnership so I really, really encourage you and recommend that you start networking. Go to MeetUp’s where other people in your field are hanging out and start exchanging ideas and opening up opportunities.
